The Monkees Cybrary Reading Room

Monkees Elected to Hall of Fame

Filed under: Current Events — Torka @ 12:21 pm

While one bozo with a stick up his butt has managed to single-handedly keep The Monkees out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, our favorite Pre-Fab Four were the top vote-getters for the 2014 class in America’s Pop Music Hall of Fame. (Yay!)

Congratulations to Peter, Micky, Mike and Davy on this honor. It’s a real shame Davy didn’t live to see it. I think he would have been honored. I wonder if they get any kind of trophy or award they can put on their mantels or bookshelves. I think it would look great sitting there next to their Hollywood Walk of Fame star. 🙂

Besides The Monkees, members of this year’s class include Chicago, The Bee Gees, Buddy Holly, Elton John, Carole King, the Platters, Simon & Garfunkel and the Supremes, among others. Previous inductees include The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Bobby Darin, Neil Diamond, Brenda Lee, Johnny Mathis, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Vinton and Stevie Wonder.

So now all the America’s Pop Music Hall of Fame folks have to do is build a bigger and better museum than the “other” Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and justice will have been served. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Jann Wenner.

(No, I’m not bitter at all. Why do you ask? 😉 )

You can find out more from the press release.
