They’re Everywhere!

I was just listening to the bluegrass music channel on DirecTV after supper, and within the space of about an hour they played bluegrass versions of Last Train to Clarksville and What Am I Doin’ Hangin’ Round?

Pretty cool, eh?

My son was surprised to hear Last Train. He couldn’t believe somebody had made a bluegrass version. I told him Monkees songs had been done in almost every musical style you could imagine: bluegrass, jazz, punk. He was even more surprised.

He didn’t even recognize What Am I Doin’ until I pointed it out to him. (But since he’s only 10 and a relatively new Monkee fan, he’s excused… this time.)
